Good value, but the house bit is quite small.
I purchased the hutch only after quite a lot of research for our two, new, 10 week old kits. I liked the idea of them having access to grass all day and being able to stretch up on their hind legs even when fully grown.
It is a lovely looking hutch, but I wonder whether that is at the expense of practicality:
1) the cross in the window is quite thick bearing in mind it’s size and therefore blocks out some light. It also means you can’t fix a water bottle to it, so you can’t shut them in it for long periods.
2) the ramp has to be really wedged in place, sometimes we’ve come home to find one of them has knocked it out which meant they had no access to the top when small (not a problem now as at 5 months they’re big enough to jump up and down) it’s a pity there couldn’t be a slot or hinge to keep it in place.
3) the slide out tray (a feature on quite a few hutches) isn’t as practical as you’d think. You have to clear away most of the hay/sawdust/bedding to open it and leaves a crack around the edge for all the droppings/sawdust to get stuck in.
4) as a result of 3), it’s quite awkward to clean out as the door is fairly small. If only you could open the roof up!
5) the space under the house is not full height, thank goodness for the other part. Of course this is the corner they retreat to when you want to get them out – so difficult to reach without kneeling/putting your hands in droppings etc!
Would I buy again? For rabbits probably not, but for smaller animals such as guinea pigs or one dwarf rabbit, maybe. You definitely need to buy at least one extension run which then makes it not so good value. We got a separate run which we line up against the opening but as this is quite low, the door to the house is blocked, so it’s not that practical, so now are deciding whether to try and sell this and start again or spend an extra £120 on 2 extensions.
