Our 1.4m polytunnel greenhouse is our smaller model which is quick to erect, easy to store and cheap to buy.
This polytunnel represents the perfect solution for over-wintering or hardening-off your plants. The cover is exceptionally strong, UV-stabilised and rot-resistant. With a double metal head-zipped door & roll-up, insect-net windows, ours looks like new two years later. The UPVC cover is much safer in family gardens and makes a stray football a bit less of an issue!
This is our new 1.4m polytunnel complete with a fully Galvanised non rust steel frame. This tunnel will create a usable 2.9sqm or 31sq ft of workspace, the spec as follows…
• Strong 19mm x 0.9mm tube wall thickness now Powder coated & Galvanised non rust steel frame. If other tunnel sellers don’t specify the wall thickness it’s likely to 0.6mm so be aware!
• Full steel “X” & “T” piece connectors, no plastic here!
• Reinforced 150g/sm UPVC with integrated “rip stop” cord ensuring cover longevity.
• Double zipped door with metal zip heads – Plastic heads don’t last!
• 2x roll up windows complete with integral fly net windows.
• UV Open - The UV open characteristics of this film gives natural UV levels and helps stimulates rapid growth.
• The UPVC cover is much safer in family gardens and makes a stray football a bit less of an issue!
With a simple push button locking swage-joint system the frame itself takes no time at all to erect however we would recommend two people to fit the cover. As with all polytunnels 90% of the build time is spent on the ground preparation, see guide below.
If you fancy having a bash at growing your own produce, then a polytunnel is a great idea. The produce is super-cheap, very environmentally friendly (zero food miles - unless you have a huge garden!), and more often than not, much more tasty than the local supermarket produce, which is often chosen for its shelf-life as opposed to its taste.
Growing your own produce in a polytunnel greenhouse is relaxing, satisfying & fun. Kids love to see the progress - from seed to plate - and involving them is a great way to educate. If you are environmentally conscious, like the idea of saving some money, love good food, or all of the above, a tunnel is a great idea!

3 of us put our Polytunnel together last Saturday. We had expected it to be difficult, with Ikea-like instructions. It was surprisingly easy. The instructions made perfect sense, and were written with humour, and the polytunnel itself is light, easy to assemble and move, and we had no trouble putting the plastic over the frame. We were all very impressed, and the final result looks good and is perfect for growing tomatoes. We also had to wait a while because the product was sold out, but it arrived when we were told it would, and was worth waiting for. |
